Character Information:
Character Name: Cade Skywalker
Age: 21
Canon: Star Wars (EU; Legacy)
Appearance:
I'd describe Cade as a 'normal guy wearing a mishmash of other people's outfits' (apparently he walks around in Darth Vader's pants), but seeing as he's coming in with only his skivvies I guess we have to focus on things other than his clothing.
So.
He's a scruffy-looking young adult, with messy blonde hair and some fuzz around his face. Brown eyes, light skin, he's athletically built and there's only so many things to single him out of a crowd.
There are some visual similarities with his ancestors...but they're not the sort that really leap out at you, unless he was side by side with them. Then someone might notice that the curve of their jaws are the same, the way the hair falls is almost identical, the look in their eyes...
Personality:
Cade Skywalker is not a very mentally healthy person.
Twenty-one years old, he's already got scars enough for a few lifetimes. He's seen the best and worst of life at the Jedi Order and in Rav's crew, and he's become...very jaded. He doesn't care for honor anymore, he doesn't care about truth, look how far the Jedi way got the Jedi. He's embittered, and apathetic. He doesn't care anymore.
At least, this is what he tells himself.
The old Cade is still there. Mind you, the old Cade is full of anger and rage at himself, and at his father. Himself for not being fast enough or strong enough or good enough to save his father, and Kol for...well, dying. This is what fuels the Dark Side in him, and his fear and anger to lose his Master was what fueled the saving of Wolf. And as Wolf says, regarding his saving of the Princess' life - "...it was done in anger and out of fear." He cannot stand letting people sacrifice themselves for him.
Even if Cade would want to become a Jedi again, he cannot become a Jedi without addressing those issues. They will block him and stop him, and ground him in the Dark Side of the Force. They already do this.
And yet...so much has he walked the Dark Side, that aside from the gnawing hunger he feels when in its grip as he heals someone...it doesn't tempt him. He takes no pleasure in killing someone (unless they threatened him or his 'own' first, and even then, it's only the satisfaction of ending that threat), and is indifferent to most temptations such lust, greed, and pride. Oh, he has pride in himself, no doubt, but that's tempered by his failures. He'd like to live comfortably, but wouldn't anyone? As for lust...well...Deliah Blue sated that, and it was a happily mutual relationship.
Cade knows happiness, and he knows friendship. He knows what it means to be honest, though growing up with criminals after Ossus, he also knows not to be taken for a fool. Still, he doesn't go out of his way to add corruption to the galaxy. He's certainly selfish in that he'll only think for himself (and, again, his 'own' - which canonically translated into his crew) and to hell with the rest of you, but it's not like he's intending on smashing everyone to keep himself comfortable.
It's more that if he has to do it, fine. Sorry you were in the wrong place the wrong time. (Except he's not really sorry, but at least he's not happy about it.)
Most everyone else knows him as an arrogant, cocky, selfish peedunky. He's fine with that, too, and it's what he wants to showcase. At least, in terms of self-confidence. He knows what he can do, and he's fine with it. He knows what he wants to do - and honestly, doesn't let much stop him from indulging in them, Cade is rather emotion-driven and is comfortable with that - and has an idea of what he wants in general.
That's basically what you need, right?
If you are apping a character arriving from another game: Please explain the changes your character has undergone in terms of personality because of experiences at their past game(s).
Background:
"Leaving takes the burden of trust off both of us."
Canon point:
Literally in the middle of Legacy #11 - Ghosts part 1. At this specific point, Cade is in the middle of a deathstick high, and receiving visions from his ancestors Mara Jade and Anakin Skywalker that - eventually - put him back on the course to his Jedi training. Cade is being taken right before a (real) Jedi Master from his past heals him and attempts to wake him up from his...well. Funk. Haze.
Because of this, Cade will literally be on the cusp of following up on that whole 'I want to complete my training as a Jedi' - and just going back to running. Without that final push, he'll be teetering on the brink. I figure that'll be fun to play out in the course of RP.
If I ever plan to canon update him, this is also early enough that there's a variety of steps I could go to. Both power and developmentwise.
Special Abilities:
Cade has inherited the Skywalker legacy of being strong in the Force. He's got quite a bit of Jedi training behind him, and while he hasn't touched the Force much during the past seven years, his connection hasn't damped at all. (Not for lack of trying, mind.) Though as a few of the Jedi said, when watching him train (a few hours after his canon pull point) -
"He has raw power, but his finer skills have atrophied. He doesn't have the focus he used to have--"
"It shouldn't take him long to regain form and focus. He was almost ready for his trials when...Ossus fell."
There's the 'usual' - telekinesis (as well as the specific 'Force Choke' variant), a sense of his surroundings (he mentions being able to 'feel' the Sith nearby), a bit of resistance to other's own powers (Mind Trick specifically), enhancing his strength and speed and acrobatics and being an absolute devil with a lightsaber. As of late, he's relied heavily upon the Dark Side of the Force to fuel these powers - his anger, fear, and hatred is strong. That's not to say that he can't find serenity...Cade's fallen in to a hibernation trance once or twice and just been amazed at the calm in the storm.
But then there's something else. Something very, very rare - and something very, very powerful. We will call it Dark Transfer.
Tapping in to the Dark Side of the Force, Cade can literally bring back the dead. This has only happened on the freshly-dead, arguably those who were just slipping off the mortal coil...but they were brought back with no injuries, no wounds, in an all-but-perfect condition after a manifestion like Force Lightning covered both them and Cade. (Though one who had his arm just chopped off didn't regenerate the arm - it was done by a lightsaber so it was cauterized, but one can assume that extreme wounds will simply close over.)
This surge of Dark Side energy, to put it bluntly, scarred Cade both times he used it. The first time he was ready to go back to Ossus and kill every Sith on it, all by himself - the second time he retreated to be alone, head in his arms as he tried to recover from the Dark Side that had all but taken him over. Canonly, the first surge was enough to be felt across the galaxy by the Sith Lord, Darth Krayt. Whether or not it was a matter of Plot Demanded It or because using it makes such a ripple remains to be seen - the second time didn't seem to bring much attention from outside sources, or at least it wasn't noted in the comic. It's possible, but unknown. Possibly an If-Plot-Demands-It, or related to how strongly he feels about the person - his Master, versus 'No One Dies For Me'. Both were strong...but the former even more so.
Suffice it to say, he doesn't use it lightly. At least, not at that full strength. It's heavily implied that Cade uses a lesser version of it to purge himself of the toxins that come with the use of deathsticks. This may be a separate healing power, it may not be - but it's worth noting.
In canon, this eventually gets to the point where he can heal others as well - or harm them, based off the idea of 'that which can heal can also harm'. It also, eventually, gets to the point where he instead uses the Light Side to fuel Dark Transfer. But the latter is way, way farther off than the former. And it's implied that to do simple healings on himself, he doesn't need to use the Dark Side to give that extra boost. He is simply so good at it that he can do it while on a deathstick high.
Cade can also suppress his presence in the Force - essentially, 'shut down'. Hide from the Force itself. With this, he's off the radar not only as a Force-sensitive, but as a living being period. All but unnoticable, though it goes without saying that if he touches the Force to use any of the related abilities...he won't be hiding anymore. And sometimes, doing that sort of thing isn't enough to stop the visions of his ancestors from coming through.
And lightsabers? Let's talk more about lightsabers. Again, even though he hasn't touched one for seven years - 'the blood of Vader...runs through your veins', and when he picked one back up he didn't seem to have forgotten a thing. He's damn good with one, not going for a specific form so much as a mix of the blade, acrobatics, and Force powers to make himself a terrifying foe.
In terms of more 'mundane' abilities - guy's a pretty good pilot, thank you very much, the Captain of his own ship and certainly able to handle it with enough skill to put other Captains to shame. And while he hasn't touched a lightsaber in years...he has touched plenty of blasters, and very much enjoys shooting them.
Sect: Civilian
Job: Bounty Hunter. Or Smuggler. It honestly depends on whether or not he ends up joining with a crew or going off on his own or whatever. It's possible that early on he'll suddenly switch to resuming his Jedi training (and therefore change his Sect), but that all depends on CR. The basic idea I have for him will lead him to resume his not-so-Jedi lifestyle.
Samples:
First Person:
[Cade regards the camera thoughtfully, his holo resting back in a chair. complete with feet up on the table, pointed riiight at said camera]
Figure a couple of you have already tried. How hard is it for us 'Outworlders' to get a license with the Bounty Hunter's Guild? Things're a bit different where I'm from. Rather not tick off any of the Houses by strolling up and assuming they'll let me in.
...assuming any exist. [he shrugs nonchalantly, but for all he's portraying half a care...he actually seems quite intent, under the surface]
Third Person:
He'd only been to Coruscant enough times to remember it. He'd just been a kid; a Padawan. Less than that, all told. Still, the city-planet had been engraved in to his memory, searching through its foundations with Shado Vao, looking upon the rivers and jungles that yet lingered as remants of the Yuuzhan Vong's terraforming...
City-planet all right, but when he'd named one of the jungles he'd just gotten a weird look and a brushing off.
Fine. Sure. He wasn't sure he was sober, either. What happened to Ossus?...
Cade adjusted the coat he'd lifted from someone, frowning a little at the fit. It was the least of things that didn't feel right - this whole place felt real enough, sure, not one of his deathstick hallucinations...but everything else?
Something was pretty damn wrong.
"...not my problem," he muttered to himself, telling it to himself over and over- it wasn't that he felt responsible for anything, but he had the feeling that it was his problem anyway, and like it or not, he'd be dealing with it one way or another...
Anything Else:
Not really. 8|a I've already spoken briefly with a mod re; Cade's bring-people-back-to-life power. It seemed to be okay with the limitation already established/described - the whole Cade has to be there, and be there within a few minutes of the death.
As it stands, if this is used ICly - I'll go through the OOC channels of death. Mod permission/noting, just with 'AND THEN CADE WILL BRING THEM BACK TO LIFE'. And as noted - feel free to do with the whole 'I SENSED A SCREAM IN THE FORCE' whatever you want idefk.
